Assessment

As an Educational Psychologist, I offer a range of comprehensive assessments designed to support learners’ academic, cognitive, emotional, and developmental needs. These assessments provide valuable insights to guide educational planning, intervention, and support. Below are the core assessment services I provide:

Psycho-Educational Assessments

Psycho-Educational Assessment is a detailed evaluation of a learner’s cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioural functioning. It is typically used to identify learning difficulties, developmental delays, and  emotional/social challenge. This assessment helps parents, teachers, and other professionals understand how a learner processes information and what factors may be impacting their academic performance.

The assessment typically includes:

  • Cognitive functioning (IQ)
  • Academic skills (reading, writing, mathematics)
  • Emotional and Social screening

Purpose:

  • To identify specific learning difficulties
  • To inform educational accommodations and interventions
  • To assist in developing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs)

School Readiness Assessments

School Readiness Assessment evaluates whether a child is developmentally prepared to meet the demands of formal schooling, usually at the Grade 1 level. Readiness involves more than age, it includes a range of cognitive, educational, emotional, social, and physical skills necessary for successful school entry and adjustment.

Areas assessed include:

  • Cognitive and conceptual development
  • Language and communication skills
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Social and emotional development
  • Early literacy and numeracy skills

Purpose:

  • To determine whether a child is ready to start formal school
  • To identify areas needing support before formal schooling begins
  • To provide parents and schools with guidance for optimal school placement

IEB Concession Assessments

IEB Concession Assessments are designed to evaluate whether a learner qualifies for accommodations during examinations, as set out by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). Concessions aim to provide equitable access to assessment for learners who experience barriers due to learning difficulties, medical conditions, or psychological challenges.

Common concessions may include:

  • Additional time
  • A reader or scribe
  • Use of a computer
  • Separate venue
  • Spelling concession

The assessment includes:

  • Full psycho-educational assessment
  • Standardised academic testing
  • Detailed report aligned with IEB requirements

Purpose:

  • To apply for appropriate exam concessions through the IEB
  • To support learners in reaching their full academic potential

Therapeutic Services

Individual Therapy (Ages 7 – Young Adult)

I offer one-on-one therapy tailored to the unique needs of children, adolescents, and young adults. Whether it’s managing anxiety, friendship issues, trauma,  coping with change,  improving emotional wellbeing, or navigating school or work-related challenges, therapy provides a safe, supportive space to explore thoughts and feelings, build resilience, and develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving.

Social Skills Training

Many children and teens struggle with social interaction, making it difficult to form and maintain relationships. Social Skills Training focuses on building practical communication and interpersonal skills, such as reading social cues, handling conflict, and developing empathy, in a structured, supportive environment. This service is especially beneficial for children with autism, ADHD, or social anxiety.

Executive Function Therapy

Executive functioning skills are crucial for success in both academic and everyday settings. This therapy supports children and young adults in strengthening skills such as attention, planning, organisation, time management, and self-regulation. Ideal for individuals with ADHD, Autism, or learning difficulties, sessions are personalised to address specific challenges and promote independence and confidence.

Parent Guidance & Counselling

Raising a child with emotional, behavioural, or learning challenges can be overwhelming. Parent guidance sessions provide a confidential space to understand your child’s needs, learn effective strategies, and feel more confident in your parenting approach. Whether you’re looking for support with behaviour management, school issues, or family dynamics, I work collaboratively with parents to promote positive outcomes for the whole family.

Specialist Programs And Services

Feuerstein's Instrumental Enrichment (FIE)

A Cognitive Skills Development Programme for Individuals, Groups, and Classrooms

Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) is a powerful, research-based intervention designed to enhance cognitive functioning. It focuses on developing essential thinking skills such as problem-solving, analytical reasoning, planning, and flexible thinking.

Unlike traditional tutoring, FIE doesn’t teach academic content. Instead, it strengthens how the brain processes information, helping learners of all ages become more independent, adaptable thinkers.

FIE is ideal for:

  • Children and adolescents with learning difficulties, ADHD, or Autism
  • Students underperforming academically despite strong potential
  • Schools looking to embed cognitive education in the classroom

Delivered one-on-one, in small groups, or in classroom settings, FIE empowers learners by teaching them how to think, not just what to think.

Snoezelen Therapy

Snoezelen Therapy provides a calming, multi-sensory experience designed to support individuals with sensory processing challenges, developmental disorders, anxiety, or emotional regulation difficulties. In a specially designed therapeutic environment, individuals engage with light, sound, texture, and aroma in a way that promotes relaxation, focus, and sensory integration.

This therapy is especially beneficial for:

  • Children with anxiety, fears or emotional difficulties
  • Behavioural or self-regulation challenges
  • ADD/ADHD or Autism
  • Learning difficulties or developmental delays
  • Sensory Processing difficulties
  • Trauma
  • Or any child needing calm, confidence and emotional growth

Snoezelen sessions are non-directive and tailored to the individual’s needs, allowing them to explore the environment at their own pace. The goal is to reduce anxiety, improve attention, and support emotional wellbeing in a gentle, non-invasive way.

Educator Support & Training

As an educational psychologist, I work collaboratively with educators to support inclusive, effective, and emotionally supportive classrooms. My training and consultation services are designed to equip teachers with practical tools, strategies, and insights that enhance student engagement and wellbeing, particularly for learners with diverse needs.

Classroom Accommodation & Differentiation

Every student learns differently, and inclusive teaching requires flexibility and creativity. I provide support in designing classroom accommodations and differentiated instruction strategies that meet the needs of all learners, including those with learning difficulties, ADHD, Autism, and emotional challenges.

Behaviour & Emotional Support Strategies

Challenging behaviour often stems from unmet emotional or developmental needs. I assist educators in understanding the root causes of behaviour and implementing evidence-based strategies to support positive behaviour and emotional regulation. Training includes proactive classroom management, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practices that foster a safe and respectful learning environment.

Individual Support Plans (ISP)

Individual Support Plans (ISPs) are essential tools for helping students with additional learning or emotional needs succeed. I work with schools to develop, implement, and monitor effective ISPs that include specific goals, accommodations, interventions, and progress tracking. These plans are tailored to the student’s unique profile and created in collaboration with teachers, parents, and specialists.

SEL Program Development & Evaluation

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is key to academic and personal success. I support schools in developing, adapting, and evaluating SEL programs that promote self-awareness, empathy, responsible decision-making, and relationship-building. Whether integrating SEL into the curriculum or running targeted group interventions, I ensure programs are evidence-based, age-appropriate, and measurable in impact.

Bullying Prevention & Mental Health Tools

A safe school environment is critical to learning. I provide training and tools to help educators address bullying, promote positive peer relationships, and support student mental health. This includes whole-school approaches, classroom strategies, and early identification of students at risk. Emphasis is placed on building a culture of respect, resilience, and mental wellbeing.
